This is PowerSpot, Plug Power’s monthly blog series where we highlight the Plug Power employees who inspire us and, we hope, will inspire you, too. Today, we’re hearing from Kim McBride, Plug Power’s Engineering Change Manager.

I manage the process that facilitates communication of engineering change and new product introductions between engineering, operations, and the field.

Exploring and finding new experiences. I love running through new neighborhoods, checking out new local businesses, and trying out new crafts or games.

At a previous job, I was given the opportunity to travel to England for a few weeks. This was the first time I had been overseas by myself, and learning to commute on the wrong side of the road, with a backwards manual transmission was definitely interesting.

My first job was working at a pizzeria in my hometown. It was super interesting because it gave me a chance to talk to people I would never have interacted with otherwise. I learned firsthand that not everyone reacts in the same way to every situation, and within a business, there needs to be a flexible approach to people—internally and externally.

The sheer potential of fuel cells excites me. As a former engineer, it is cool to think about all the possible applications where hydrogen power can be harnessed, and the new products that would allow it. There are so many things in everyday life that could utilize new technology to run off hydrogen.

Martha Stewart, Bill Gates, Hedy Lamar, and Madam C.J. Walker. These people all broke molds in their respective worlds: Winning a trophy at the Workforce team challenge!

Martha Stewart continued to craft, even in prison, then befriending her stereotypical opposite, Snoop Dogg.
Bill Gates built a tech empire, then used the profits to fund major world health initiatives.
Hedy Lamar was a successful movie star and a massively influential inventor.
Madam C.J. Walker not only created a product, but created an industry.
