The American-made hydrogen and fuel cell industry is driving jobs and economic prosperity, which in large part is due to the policy advocates who see the value of hydrogen adoption at scale. In conjunction with the \u00a02018 National Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Forum<\/a> in Washington, DC, Plug Power joined the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association<\/a> (FCHEA) and other industry partners to recognize key policymakers responsible for the recent reinstatement of the fuel cell investment tax credit (ITC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n Incredible collaboration, both politically and industry-wide, went into rallying around the fuel cell tax credit reinstatement. Hydrogen fuel cells are a \u201cmade in America\u201d power solution. According to the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association, the entire industry provides more than 10,000 jobs in the United States, and supports tens of thousands of additional jobs through its customers, suppliers and installers. These high-skilled, well-paid workers, are helping America win the tough, global competition for manufacturing. All involved applaud the actions taken to address the market disparity that was created in 2015.<\/p>\n The 2018 Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy All-Star Award<\/b> rightfully acknowledges Congressional support including:<\/p>\n Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said, \u201cPlug Power\u2019s fuel cell technology offers the win-win of a cleaner, more efficient and more reliable power source now and in the future, and good-paying, high-tech jobs on the production floor in the Capital Region. \u00a0I am proud of our work together to support the advancement of this exciting industry.\u201d<\/p>\n Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) said, \u201c\u201cFuel cells are vital to America\u2019s energy future. I\u2019m proud to say that Plug Power is a leader in the field working right in our own backyard of Latham, New York. I have had the opportunity to visit that facility on numerous occasions, and every visit opens my eyes to new and exciting work being done there. For my part, I continue to press forward in Congress to advance policies that will keep our region and nation competitive and at the cutting edge of this dynamic field.\u201d<\/p>\n Congressman Tom Reed (R-NY) said, \u201cI have worked to extend and promote alternative and renewable energy tax policies and have been steadfast in my commitment to lower energy costs and protect the environment. An \u2018all of the above\u2019 energy policy viewpoint is essential for boosting our economy, protecting our national interests and creating jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n Congressman John Faso (R-NY) said, \u201cHydrogen fuel cells are a cutting-edge part of America\u2019s energy future. These cleaner energy sources are American made and support thousands of jobs nationwide, and dozens of jobs at Plug Power in Latham. I will continue to fight on behalf of innovators who are pursuing a more sustainable energy future.\u201d<\/p>\n A reception was held on the evening of June 12 in appreciation of these efforts, during which key members of Congress and decision-makers within the hydrogen and fuel cell industry discussed critical fuel cell policy issues.<\/p>\n Andy Marsh, Plug Power\u2019s CEO said, “We\u2019re proud to recognize these policy all-stars for their dedication towards reinstating the Investment Tax Credit (ITC).
