스포츠 토토 Chemical developed shrinkable labels for PET with enhanced recyclability

스포츠 토토 Chemical has developed shrinkable labels for PET bottles that satisfy the highest level of convenience for PET recycling.

LOTTE Chemical supports the development of ingredients and processing technologies, while 스포츠 토토 Aluminum prints, produces, and evaluates the labels and Dongil Chemical Industries produces the films. The three companies have jointly developed shrinkable labels since last year and acquired last 29th the NET certificate from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy’s Korean Agency for Technology and Standards for ‘Shrinkable Multilayered Polyolefin Label and Ingredient Production Technology for PET Recycling’.

There are two types of 스포츠 토토 labels: attachable and shrinkable. The newly developed shrinkable labels for 스포츠 토토 bottles are non-attachable with the specific gravity below 1. When the wasted 스포츠 토토 bottles are pulverized and cleaned, the 스포츠 토토 bottles sink in water while the shrinkable labels float on the surface for easy separation.

The labels have less strength than the existing shrinkable labels do, so they are expected to be easier to remove through perforation and accelerate the 스포츠 토토 recycling process to increase the recycling rate of 스포츠 토토 bottles.

스포츠 토토 bottles use labels for food information, but it is not easy to recycle the 스포츠 토토 bottles if they are not removed. Nowadays label-less water bottles are available, but labels are still needed for other beverages as it is required to indicate food information under the food-related laws and regulations.

“The newly developed shrinkable labels are expected to further contribute to the recycling of PET bottles,” said CEO Hwang Jin-koo of 스포츠 토토 Chemical’s Basic Materials Division. “We will continue to cooperate with our partners to expand the development of eco-friendly products.”

Additionally, LOTTE Chemical is working on projects to create an ESG setting for its partners and strengthen their capacities. Last year, there were 24 cases of joint technology development projects and more than 9,000 materials were analyzed for material properties by providing the research facilities and equipment to resolve the small/medium partners’ difficulties with development of raw materials due to the lack of equipment and facilities.
